CODE UPGRADE GONE WRONG --- I TFTP an image file to my 2600 router. When it finished, I did the reload command without resetting the boot system. I get this output now when the router boots up. it will only boot to "rommon".

I still want ot upgrade to "c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.123-19.bin"

I must have missed a step, that how i got in this mess

THANKS AGaIN FOR YOUR HELP

Glad you have it fingered out. And as Dan The Other Man says, make sure you have a big enough flash card!

Tim

when I do a "sho ver" it says there is 13xxxx avaiable and 16xxxx total in flash memory. The new image is 15xxxx. Is there a way I can remove the existing image file and make room for the new one?

..you will have to erase the flash...

..but when you go through the tftp process it normally prompts you with the fact you will have to erase the flash...

I speak not only of the flash card! Did not we read:

Error : memory requirements exceed available memory
Memory required : 0x0283F734

maybe i missed something - The 2600 series router I am staring at does not have a "flash" card. Like the one you would find in a 45xx or 65xx series switch. It only has the on board flash.

I don't really know much of the physical architecture of the systems myself. Looks like you have 16MB flash, 3MB used, so you have 13MB left.

erp... flash card, flash memory... whatever. :-\ The router also has RAM and may complain if you try to load an IOS image that wants more.

like you said flash card, flash module..whatever..

.when you try to upload the new flash...
it should prompt you that you will have to erase the existing flash..say yes...
..you will see eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...then hopefully !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...if it does not..
.go ahead and erase it yourself
..you already know how to upload flash from rommon in case some type of disaster happens...
...also sometimes in the past from my experience i had to use the "squeeze flash command" (those cases where if the flash size is close to the IOS size)..
..this command has been necesary more than once..especially with 2600 series routers....
..good luck...
