CODE UPGRADE GONE WRONG --- I TFTP an image file to my 2600 router. When it finished, I did the reload command without resetting the boot system. I get this output now when the router boots up. it will only boot to "rommon".

Is this going to be a serial reload in a disaster recovery mode? This will take the rest of my life!!!! -- I am to young to go out this way :)

Well, have you tried the x-modem thing, or tftpdnld command? Just a thought. I hope you saved the original IOS...

Tim [lightsaber]

what do you mean exactly when you say "I hope you saved the original IOS..."

rommon 26 > xmodem c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.123-19.bin

Just in case you need more. Do you have a tftp program? Try tftpdnld in rommon.
rommon1>tftpdnld
What happens? Also, is the baud rate 9600? Also, try
rommon1>xmodem ?
or
rommon1>ymodem ?

Tim

ok, i am trying to use the TFTdnld program now,,, am muttling through all the set variables

I tftpdnld the c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.123-19.bin file in rommon-- and did a reset -- it did the dsame thing--- What did i do wrong?

First off, do you have the tftp program running in the backround on your computer? Second, do you have the original IOS somewhere on your computer, like did you back it up? Third, if you did not back it up, do you have another working 2600? If so, do this...router#copy flash tftp
Make sure the tftp program is running in the backround. You are doing this via console, aren't you?

Tim

I was able to use TFTPDNLD in rommon to TFTp the file back to the router vis ethernet.

First off, do you have the tftp program running in the backround on your computer? - YES

Second, do you have the original IOS somewhere on your computer, - NO

like did you back it up? - NO

Third, if you did not back it up, do you have another working 2600? - YES
If so, do this...router#copy flash tftp
Make sure the tftp program is running in the backround. - OK
You are doing this via console, aren't you? - EHTERNET

~ in rommom when I TFTP the file back , it there someting I need to do so it knows to use the file when it boots up?

rommon 7 > boot c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.123-19.bin

Looks to me you are trying to load too big of an IOS for the amount of memory you have on your router. Try the FTP site I gave you earlier in this post, and use a smaller file.

Tim

ok, I tftp the orginal 2600 image off of another 2600 I have. I am going try it. if that don't work I will go to the TFTP site you gave me. Do all the image files end in ".bin"

can you erase all the files in flash from rommon to make room for the new image file you TFTP to it?
