I'm looking for maximum long range scan-ability success (10-20 ft away) with an intermec sabre 1553 (long range scanner) with a code 39 label that'll probably be about 3x9 inches long. So my question is, which "bar-width ratio" would best suit me, my options appear to be 2:1, 3:1, or 5:2...or would it make a difference at all?

Thanks,

The one that makes the lines big and thick and spread out.

Well if that's the case, i think the Code 128 (Auto-Switching) wins out. It looks much thicker and spread out than the 39, or is there something else about the 128 i should know about as far as easy of scanning/reading?

Thanks again,

So long as the bar/space ratios are maintained per spec, the only requirement on height is that the reader's scan height is shorter than the bar height
