I'm looking at a switch that has 1FB lines coming into remote buildings for 911 notifications, etc. There are two lines that are active, but won't come live in the switch. I looked at the trunk group settings and everything appears consistent.

There are no alarms in the switch, but I do see a couple warnings on the board:

ALARM REPORT

Port Maintenance On Alt Alarm Svc Ack? Date Date
Name Brd? Name Type State 1 2 Alarmed Resolved

03A0601 CO-TRK n 0070/001 WARNING RDY 06/29/11:26 00/00/00:00
03A0601 CO-TRK n 0070/001 WARNING RDY 06/29/11:26 00/00/00:00

Also from the error log we see this for active alarms:

HARDWARE ERROR REPORT - ACTIVE ALARMS

03A0601 CO-TRK 0070/001 1537 06/29/11:25 06/29/11:27 6 180 5 a y

and this for errors:

Do I have a bad board? The TG translations appear to be correct across the board. I'd appreciate any ideas.

thx.

alarm 3585 auc 57424 is "? Aux data 57424: No loop current on outgoing call"

and 3329 aux 574108 is "? Aux data 57408: No tip ground detected on outgoing call"

the 257 aux 50176 "Battery reversal detected. This is usually caused by the CO (often seen with
step-by-step and cross-bar offices in connection with outgoing calls). This is
detected if the direction of the loop current changes from normal to reverse
for at least 40 msec. Could occur if the trunk was just installed and for some
reason the Tip and Ring wires were reversed at the PBX. If battery reversals
occur during dialing, wrong numbers may result. Refer problem to CO. Ask
them to remove the battery reversal option."

I used to get numerous errors like this as well..
if nothing has changed and these erros just startted, it could be a bad board, or port, try running some tests..
test board 03a06
test port 03a0601 and 03a0602
also, you could try punching the lines down to a different co trunk board, if errors follow then it has to be with the line
could also be a polarity issue,, our co lines were fine until we upgraded the switch, and a number of the lines got 'switched', you could try and switching the lines on the block,,

the 2817 aux 57360 is "Ground but no ringing. This error occurs on an incoming call on a
ground-start trunk. If ringing is not detected within 5 seconds of the Tip being
grounded, the call is still accepted. If the CO is of the No. 5ESS. switch type,
ringing delays of more than 5 seconds during heavy traffic are fairly common.
Check for other errors."

If these are POTS lines they need to be set up as ground start.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

If that doesn't work (setting to ground start), flip the tip and ring... then see. I've been burned by that one before...

Thanks,

Wildcard

Thanks - they are set as ground start, but it's very possible they have the wires switched since these are new lines. Stay tuned :)
