Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY got the CO Message Waiting feature to work on a BCM50? I have called Nortel ITAS (India) today and was told "others can't get it to work, and it's probably a bug." Their support is not that great in all honesty.

The customer uses Bell Canada's Call Answer service on analog trunks and on the Norstar was able to get a "Message for You" on 221 when the Call Answer service had a message. I have enabled "Message Centre" on Line 1 for DN:221, and even ensure the Prime DN is 221 for Line 1.

The Line is on the 4x16 Expansion Module, as it was cheaper to go this way, rather then use a trunk off of the BCM50 it's self (licensing wise).

Any suggestions?

probably is not acceptable - even if the I stands for Indiana or prince edward Island
If it is critical, escalate the issue, get them to accept its a bug or get a fix

What version of Norstar was it- why was it upgraded and what is the version of BCM

Nortel Technical Support ... what a joke!!!

You need to know this fact.
The Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) is currently supported
exclusively by Meridian Mail and CallPilot and SL-100, and
DMS-100.
So, if you serving switch at the C.O. is not an SL-100 or DMS-100, its not going to work.
If the serving switch is one of those supported ...
Make sure the line is assigned to appear and ring on the set.
Make sure the Vmsg Set box is checked in line assignment.

I think Bell only uses DMS100s - it was working on their Norstar with zero issues.

Yes, set.

Make sure the Vmsg Set box is checked in line assignment.
Yes, set.

I worked in some of the Bell offices in another life.
Often they have DMS and ESS in the same office.
Check with your Telco to see.

Seems you have everything optioned correctly.
