I have a customer with analog trunks and CO based voicemail. They only have 2 lines and want to keep the CO based vmail for times when both lines are busy. Does the IP Office have the capability to turn on/off MWI from the CO based voicemail? The POTS lines have visual message waiting activated on the lines and it was working with their old merlin system. I used to do this on small Nortel systems, but I am trying to figure out if the IP Office can do it.

any ideas would be helpful

i tried this back on R5 ipo and could never get anything to work. i dont think the IPO can pick up the MWI from the CO.

With only two lines would it be possible to get an external MWI box and connect the MWI box to the trunks? Its not very elegant, but with only two CO lines it would work.

Scroll down a bit on the page below and take a look.

That is an amazing web page that explains everything there is to know about analog message waiting indication. Thanks much. That is the direction I am going right now with an LED made by Viking.

thanks for the tip and the website........

Glad it helped. I've used some of Mike Sandman's products in the past when I had strange requests from customers. If anyone will have a strange product for a telephone, he will.
