Hi

We have a definity system, running CMS software.
I understand the CMS software is running on an Informix database. The CMS software is good, but with access to the database i think i could do a bit better, or at least write something of use to my organisation.

Does anybody know how to configure an odbc connection to the CMS database ? Is it possbile ? I don't know informix, but have experience in many other relational databases.

Help appriciated.

We had a CD with our system with the Openlink ODBC driver on it. Just point the driver at the CMS directory and away you go.
Cheers

JDE. I have managed to locate some freeware odbc drivers. I just don't know what any of the settings should be. database, service etc. It would be helpful if you could describe your settings.

Many Thanks

System dsn:
db type: Infomix 7
Path: /cms/db/inf/cms
Row Buffer size 30.
That's all the configuring the supplied driver requires... Can you not get a copy of the CD from Avaya?
JDE

I've just mailed avaya support to see if they can help.

I have about 6 different CD's that came with the CMS, but none seem to have an ODBC driver.
The settings you describe seem incredibly simple. Surely you must have had to enter an IP address and database name ?

ne chance of mailing me a copy of your driver install ;-)

Anything's possible. Yes, had to enter the IP and I called the db CMS - I'm a simple soul like that. The disk comcode is 108091349, if that helps.

Thanks

I don't have that disk, will see if Avaya will send me a copy.

Hi

I thought I’d let you know i've managed to track down the aforementioned CD. Apparently, it used to be distributed as standard with the CMS, but not any longer. It can be purchased separately for the sum of <gulp> 800 uk pounds <gulp>.

Thanks for all your help.

Openlink has a free Informix odbc driver. Unfortunately I have not been able to correctly configure same.

I have also tried the freeware openlink driver, but no luck.
Not entirely sure what i need to enter for the following settings.

Server {my server ip address}
Hostname {my server ip address again ?}
Database {would guess at cms}
Protocol {have tried seipcpip}
Service {have tried sqlexec}

No mention of path setting as described in jde reply. I suspect the avaya driver is slightly differnet.

£800? Have you pointed out to Avaya that this is taking the P? Try leaning heavily on your a/c manager - they might bend. No one can charge £800 quid for an ODBC driver...

anyone know what the port number that is used for the informix connection

As far as I know the driver has always been 'commercial'
as it was 3'rd party supplied, and not Avaya owned.
Glad to hear there is "free" development now
