We recently removed the monitor attached to our cms server for space reasons (and because we dont' use it), and this had the classic un-intended effect of messing the reboots up. Evidently if the monitor isn't there, it waits for it to be hooked up before coming back all the way.

Anyone know of a parameter that can be adjusted that can eliminate this?

Gracias.

I don't think it's the monitor. Sun will not boot from local hard drive if the USB keyboard and mouse is unplugged.

Sorry to hihack but has any sucessfully goten a KVM switch to work with the SUN boxes. I have 2 CMS's and an IVR all with monitors, keyboards, and mice. I would love to clean that all up.

we don't have a kvm available in this rack, but we were just going to hook up a keyboard and mouse and see how that goes.

seems like a kvm would work though....it's probalby just looking for devices on those ports.

i want to think of these as servers, but i guess they're really just souped up workstations.

I use a Belkin KVM for access to my MAS MSS VMNET as well as my CMS. The CMS being SUN needs a belkin Sun to PS2 adapter. All works well.

Thanks

That switch will not take the place of the keyboard.

If the server boots and does not see the keyboard, it will not finish booting.

I think its
Belkin OmniView PRO3 USB & PS/2 4-Port KVM Switch. For the CMS you will need Omniview Universal Sun to PS2 adapter. AvayaTier3 is correct but if you have the CMS button/port selected during reboot it works fine.

Hope this helps
