We've implemented HA on our 2 CMS servers. We had 25 licenses on 1 and 20 on the other. Now folks only log into 1 server, but we do not get full access to all licenses...

Thoughts???

Thanks,
Chris

98Converter,
You may want to check out the number of licenses that are available on the secondary CMS. Due to some warped Avaya logic, the licenses are distributed across both the primary and secondary CMS, and the purchased number of licenses is the number authorized on the primary PLUS the number authorized on the secondary. Avaya expects that you will have your supervisors login to both CMS systems. Here is a quote from an Avaya document:

"Avaya Call Management System (CMS) Supervisor users can log into either Avaya CMS or both Avaya CMS systems with full functionality. Each Avaya CMS server will control Avaya CMS Supervisor user access independently. The number of CMS Supervisor authorized logins is the total logged in on both the primary and the secondary CMS system"

I hope this helps!

IPSI,

We can't log into our secondary CMS. Not even through ASA for su work... We can only log into the Primary Server.

In speaking with Avaya Canada, they mentioned, "One thing we have discovered is that the Primary CMS in the States does not appear to be on the same network segment as the secondary CMS in Canada. As well the IP address of the second NIC on the Primary is the same IP address as the second NIC on the Secondary, we would say this needs to be fixed before we can get Admin-Sync/HA installed."

These are relatively new installs (3-4 months). Avaya configured the settings on both servers, so we've given it back to them to fix it- Hopefully when fixed, we'll have all 45 licenses.

Do you know what an estimated cost would be for additional licenses???

Thanks all,
Chris

98Converter,
Having an HA CMS setup where you can not access the secondary server pretty much means that you have one active CMS and one boat anchor. You really need to be running this one up through the ranks at Avaya. If this had been installed last week and you were having this problem it would be a bad situation, but with this being an install that took place a few months ago it is just totally wrong.

The cost for additional supervisor licenses is based on the number of existing licenses that the system currently has. Since you are having issues with license, I am not sure how many you will get credit for when you order new ones. The list price (US Dollars) for each additional license, when the total number of license on the system will be between 15 and 30, is $685 and or $620 when the total number of license will be between 35 and 60. The actual amount that you should expect to pay for the licenses should be around $450 - $470.

BUT---- If I were you I would not pay for new licenses!!! This is Avaya’s problem to fix, not yours! I am fairly confidant that Avaya will quickly resolve the problem with the secondary server, or at least put a band-aid on the problem by temporarily adding supervisor licenses to the primary system, but you will have to PUSH them!

If I were in your situation, I would first make sure that the there was a ticket in with the services group, and make the services folks escalate the ticket. Once you know you have a valid trouble ticket, cal your sales rep, the Avaya Area Sales VP, and the Avaya Area Services VP and let each of them know how unhappy you are with the current situation. If you don’t know how to contact your area Sales and Services VPs, call Avaya’s main number in Basking Ridge (908) 953-6000 and they (if you push) will find someone to help you.

Sorry for the rant, and I hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice IPSI. We escalated today. They are shooting for a resolution tomorrow.

They quoted $815 per license, that must have been list.

Thanks again,
Chris
