We have a question regarding utilizing scripts for our call center. We have developed several scripts for our agents reflective upon business need and we have some questions:

1: Does the user need to be logged in order for a script to run. For example, If I have an agent that is not due in until 6 AM the next morning, but I know I will need them with a certain skill set set to priority, can I run the script the previous evening and have it work for them the next morning. We have been trying this, but it only seems to work if the agent is logged in.

2: We have the scripts placed in folders and sub directories on a shared drive as their are several of us who need to run them. All scripts were built utilizing one pc and the same login id. Can the other users run the scripts from their PCs? We have tried (and tested) but the only time the scripts work is when they are run from the PC that built them.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

QMGR,

1. skill changes done through cms supervisor are only activated when agent is logged in and in available state. however, if you change agent's skills when he/she is not logged in or in unavailable state (or on call), cms puts this change request into queue and skill change will be performed the next time agent logs in or returns to available state. so you can use your scripts nightly and when agent comes in at 6 am and logs in, cms will perform skill change at this very time.
2. afaik scripts can be run from any pc but there's a trick: cms supervisor caches the files and settings it needs for every user that uses cms supervisor on a particular pc. cache is created the first time a user logs in to cms supervisor. so in order to use scripts on a several pcs, you should log in the script owner user on these pcs at least one time and adjust cms supervisor settings to have this particular user to be script owner.
however, if a script you've made wouldn't change and should just run every day at a given time, you can set up a time table through terminal emulation instead of using cms supervisor scripts. set up this way, a time table (script of a sorts) will run on the server itself, not a pc. this scheme is more robust.

When running automated scripts via windows scheduler does the name login name used to login to the computer have to match the login name used to login to the CMS? For example if I login to computer with my domain login of rsmi but I login in to the CMS with a login name rsmith would that cause a problem in running an automated script if the user name for the computer login and CMS login don't match?

Thanks,
jegi

jerrygiberti,

no, the login names do not have to match. there's absolutely no relation between windows login name and cms one.
