When backing up a CMS system with the CMSADM backup does the system place itself into single user mode?

This is actually a question that stems from ICM and if the PG's will remain up during the CMSADM backup.

Thanks,
Dave

It depends on your version. If I remeber correctly, v9 will not go into single-user, but earlier versions will. The easiest thing to do is perform a test after-hours...The older systems will offer you a chance to back out if you don't want to shut down CMS. I think you have to hit DEL and it will drop you out. On the newer systems, you will not get this prompt...It will start the backup immediately.

Version 8 and newer does not put CMS in single user mode. You can run your cmsadm backup without concern for dropping the pro services links. The only caveat is no one can log into the system while the backup is running, however no currently logged in user is affected.
