What Is the maximum number of agent traces you can run on a R8 CMS(Enterprise 3500). Anyone have an idea or even where to look?

Thanks in advance

D

Think it is 25. See document CentreVu Supervisor 8 Reports in the Glossary under "Agent Trace".

The number of records you can find on the Supervisor under "Maintenance" --> "Datastorage Allocation".

250 agents with a maximum of 500,000 records depending on your data storage allocation.

Keep a very very close eye on your disk space if running large numbers of traces - they eat disk space and then the whole CMS goes pear-shaped.

Just to let you know that there is no limit to the number of agents that yu can trace. within the cms you have an allocated amount of disk space set for agent traces. Once the disk space is full it will continue to write over the data with the most recent data. The best thing is to activate say 100 people on trace and chechk to see how far you can access the data and then make amendments from there. The next option would be to increase the disk space that is allocated to the agent trace if required.

Here is the agent trace info from the R8 documentation showing there is a 250 agent max.

Reference
• The agent trace file rolls over (the oldest records are discarded as
the newest records are written) when the number of records
reaches your allocated number of up to a maximum of 500,000
records. You do not have to delete agent trace records. To keep
old agent traces, print them.
• You can activate traces for a maximum of 250 agents. This limit
applies to the number of agents administered traced by one server
across all ACDs. It does not take into account whether or not the
agents are logged in. To avoid compromising performance,
activate only the traces that you need.
• IMPORTANT! Turning an agent trace off does not delete the
records for that agent. Agent trace records are overwritten
automatically when the trace file has filled up.
• You must start an agent trace before you can run an agent trace
report. This report lists each agent activity and the time it
occurred. See CentreVu® Supervisor Release 8 Reports
585-215-852 .
• You can script the Activate Agent Trace window and schedule the
script. See “Task: automating your activities with scripting” for
more information.
• You can put the Activate Agent Trace window on a timetable.
See “Task: using timetables and shortcuts” for more information.

Nice to see Avaya slowly catches up...Why can't I trace all agents?
For those that do need more than 250 here is an extract from the V9 change discription manual.

The Increased Agent Trace feature expands the agent trace capacity in both CentreVu CMS and CentreVu Supervisor from 250 to 400 agents.
The system limit is still 500,000 agent records to be stored; this has not been increased. The activity on 400 agents approaches the 500,000 record limit more quickly than when the agent limit was 250. When the
record limit is reached, the file storing these agent records will begin to roll over and overwrite the oldest data in the record.

Think V8 documentation shouldn't read
"To keep old agent traces, print them".
Try exporting the info and holding it on an external database
