After trying to load a memory stick via USB port, I saw a message of CMOS Battery Low -- can anyone enlighten me as to what that means?

Also, I am having trouble with USB Ports on two out of three of my computers. I plug in the memory stick and there is just nothing, but when I plug into the one computer that is working ok, everything is there. So, I know that the memory stick is not defective. Why won't any of the multiple USB Ports work on my other computer and laptop?

Thanks for any advice.

There's a small battery, usually mounted on the motherboard, that supports the circuitry to save the BIOS settings. These settings include date, time, drive parameters, boot sequence etc. If the battery goes completely flat your user settings will be lost and the basic manufacturer's defaults will kick in. Many modern boards use a lithium 3v cell, with type CR2032 being the most popular.

Are the USB ports enabled in the BIOS on those other computers? What operating systems are they running? W95, XP etc?

Thanks for responding. I am running XP Pro. On one computer, the USB Port works with my printer, but with my memory stick, it says there is not enough power in the hub. On my laptop, there are three USB ports. Two of them used to work fine, but in last few months, nothing works when plugged in.
