I've built several s8300's with system platform / cm templates. I know system platform is no longer used and I'm asking if installing CM8 should be straightforward and installable by the customer.

I did a full deployment of v7 cm, ess, smgr, asm.. not an upgrade and basically had the BP send me all the license files and enabled me for the SW download and did it on my own.

For this, I need to do a 6.3 - 8 upgrade that will include LSP's etc.. I have not installed AVP nor upgraded SMGR with data migration. Like I mentioned, I'm leaning toward the BP selling all the suite and server licenses and any relevant h/w and I'm going to do it myself. Or split the responsibility to reduce the cost. The services cost is more than upgrading the licensing suite and h/w.

I installed two S8300E blades with 8.0
I also tried to go 8.1 but went back to 8.

So now my lab core is 6.3.8 and 2 lsp's are on 8. AVP, AVPU and CM, all patched.

So if you are planning to go 8 get all the licenses first, place then on weblm then move all your LSP's and ESS's first.
Then you will get all the tricks and will have more confidence when going with the core.
