CM5 IA770 Woes

Alright, it's been a few years since I installed an IA770 (back in the CWY1 days) but I'm working on one right now and it's got me stumped.

I installed the S8300 without incident (including the Audix software). I've created the h.323 signalling group, trunk group, etc. Followed the manual line-by-line ... but when done and I status the signalling group is shows "far-end bypass" and the trunk group is OOS/Far-end. "statapp" shows messaging up.

Where do I begin to look at this thing to aviod the $600/Hr TSO call?

go through "configure server" and make sure the IA770 Integration address is still there, sometimes is doesn't get saved.

Next, I would stop and start the IA770, that sometimes does it.

Also, there is an "A" (Audix) patch for the IA770 for CM 5.0, I would get that and isntall it, but that has nothing to do with your issue :)

'preciate the response. Done that. Actually had to change ALL of the IPs due to customer change ... so went through "configure server" and changed S8300 and IA770 then used the gateway wizard to change the G350. Also stopped and started Messaging and have re-booted the S8300 several times. AyeCarumba!

Have applied patch A6109rf+a.rpm (which took me 3 days to locate since they've "oh so wisely" decided to place it in the CM folder instead of the IA770 folder).

yup ... did it exactly like the docs (msgserver) and that's the far-end node-name in the sig group.

i had this happen along time ago as well. i just cant remember what the hell it was. i will check my notes to see if i can find it.

humor me, go into "configure server", see if your IA770 integration IP address is still showing up, or is it now 'blank'? Also, since you changed the IP address's, did you also change the node-name in CM for the IA770? The signalling group references it...

Also, have you tried a full shutdown and reboot?

I'll do that, Mitch, and will let you know just as soon as the local BP gets a dialup line to the box. I flew home last night without completing the VM piece. Fortunately, the cut is not until 6/27.

Actually, Mitch, I used "msgserver" as the ip node-name with the same IP address as the IA770 integration address in "configure server." The name "msgserver" (which is what was used in the IA770 integration docs) is in the signalling group as the far-end node-name.

... and yes, have done a full shutdown and reboot several times.

Keep those suggestions coming ... we're going to bullseye the problem eventually.

Yes, I call it "msgserver" as well. The last suggestion I have is to "stop messaging", then once its completly stopped, "start messaging". That usually does it for me. I install CM5 S8300's with IA770's all the time, I am working on one right now... have you tried busy/release on the signalling group? One other thing: If your gateway's IP address is not setup and working, the IA770's IP trunks and signalling won't come into service, so check the MGP or PMI, depending on what kind of gateways you have (G700 or G350/G450)

I also usually cheat; I backup all of the systems I setup, then, when I setup a new one, I restore the closest translation to what I am setting up, and just "busy sig 99" (IA770 signalling group), then "change node-name ip", then change the "msgserver" IP address, then release sig 99, usually pops into service within 60 seconds :) BTW, restoring your switch and IA770 gets you your basic switch config back, and gets the autoattendants, and all the junk setup fast on the IA770 :)

Yes, I find the easiest way to do things, and that works well.... We also use ProVision, but that's not going to help much with the IA770..

i had this happen to me once

customer wanted put their 8400 on the corperate lane so there was a multitude of IP address changes.

i thought i was going to lose it when i decided to try to disable the procr ip interface and then re-enabled it and TADA worked like a charm.

Good Luck
