Customer has 9 Media-gateways 4 G350 and 5 G700 - 100 IP Telephones and the rest are TDM - Digital. The issue is with the TDM phones on the Media-gateways. Customer is reporting phone will ring even though the handset has been picked up. Transfers are slow and sometimes fail on transfer you have to wait 3 - 5 seconds before transfer takes. No issues reported on the IP phones

This is probably due to latency in the network. The latency will effect control traffic and thus all of those types of functions.

I would have your network team evaluate the traffic between the gateways and the core and verify you're not seeing latency, dropped packets, or re-transmits.

Thanks - been thinking it was network but you know customer it is NEVER the network...

No problem.

A lot of customers forget to prioritize the voice traffic ... Especially the control traffic.

Unfortunately this often means that the traffic controlling your call functions is being treated just like John Doe's YouTube video stream and it gets buffered and such when the bandwidth use nears capacity.

A good QoS configuration in the network can make a world of difference in the voice platform.
