Hi Guys,

I was wondering whether anybody has had any issues installing service pack 5 onto a CM 5.2.1 system.

I can install service pack 4 no problem and i am using the same process, when i try to install service pack 5 i am de-activating service pack 4 but still have no joy!!

When i load the patch on to the system via the web pages it states that it has downloaded ok but when i go into manage updates the file is not in there - i have also tried this via the shell but i come across the same issues.

I have followed the documentation step by step but no luck.

If anybody has come across this as well please let me know how you got around it.

Thanks in advance.

Try it at the linux CLI.

the command is: update_unpack filename

do this from the /var/home/ftp/pub directory

Hi,

I have also tried this at the Linux CLI but i come across the same issue.

Once i upload the file through the 'download files' web page it states that it has completed but does not show up in the 'manage updates' page. From the CLI i go to the correct directory and do 'ls -ltr' and i can see that the file has uploaded but i cannot unpack it and avtivate it!!

Any pointers appriciated.

update_unpack does not use a commandline argument, it allows picking a number from a menu for the patch file to unpack.

update_deactivate
update_activate
both need the patchfile argument
dadmin@S8720-A> update_unpack

The following update files were found...
Please select which one you want to unpack:
1) /var/home/ftp/pub/00.1.731.2-14300.tar.gz
2) /var/home/ftp/pub/00.1.731.2-14809.tar.gz

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies.

In the end i had to get Avaya to dial in to the system at a higher level and remove the file i had installed.

There explaination was that sometimes when you download a file windows adds some extra information resulting in a corrupt file when you download:

In my case windows had added the following information in the file name:

[1]

All that is required to be done is to right click on the file and rename it back to what the origianl file should be.

Tried it later and it worked a treat.

Hope this can help someone else.

If you would have renamed the file and saved it again it would have worked too. Same thing happened to me.
