I've installed CM 3.3.3 on a development machine that is er...not Cisco approved. The install went fine (applied the registry settings like everyone else does), however the CallManager Service, CTI Mananger Service, and TFTP Service will not start. I get the error "The service did not start in a timely fashion."

I really need to get this up and running. I have it installed on a Toshiba Tecra 8100 laptop with 256MB RAM and there is plenty of hard drive space. Is 256 not enough? When I watch the CCM.exe process through task manager it never goes above 25% utilization.

from my experience with CM on laptops...add virtual memory in Win2K to get to 1024 total. You have probably seen that the machine CRAWLS through the boot process and in trying to start SQL and the various services. If you disable as many non-essential services as possible, you will help the situation as well. Things should move a bit quicker, and work a bit better after you do this.

That didn't work. The CCM service still won't start. It says that it won't start but it did not return an error code.

I've increased the virtual mem to 1024 and even defragged the drive and stopped unnecessary background services.

I also still have the same problem with the TFTP service and CTI Manager.

You can also deinstall and reinstall the TFTP, CTI, and CallManager services at the command line (with the command line switches) in Win2K. I have had to do that before with the CTI and CM to fix the same problem you are having.

Anything in your event viewer?

I solved it. Apparently I forgot to activate the services using the Cisco Servicability tool. How silly of me. grrr.

Anyway, its up and running now and working good.

Thanks for the help.

robrubin, please tell me how you did it, did you use the file win-OS-Upgrade.2000-2-3.exe for installation? if so, could you please tell me what you did and email me the file if you used it (if it's not much to ask that is :)
Regards.
