Does anybody know if you can install DNA, OneBox, VAA or Solidus eCare on servers with diskclustering.
Eg. redundancy for the server application. Any other ideas of redundancy for Ericsson applications are welcome!!

Regards NANSI

Do you mean RAID ? If so , we run RAID5 on our DNA server.

When you say disk clustering do you mean RAID?

You can use hardware based SCSI disk arrays, for disk striping, disk mirroring and disk striping with parity (Raid5). They are all safe.

Not too sure if the Win2k software solution works.

I have a DNA installation running on a server with 5 physical disks, using a hardware SCSI Controller to make Windows see them as one.

Sorry guys I don´t mean RAID. I mean a more serious redundancy with 2 physical servers sharing the same disk cluster. This is common on very large and imoprtant database servers. I know that Win2k-server and SQL 2000 support clustering, but the question is if I can use any of Ericssons application on that kind of soloution.

Is this really needed ? What kind of customer do you have requiring this ?
As you now the DNA , Onebox etc. does not really carry business sensitive information and RAID would be enough.
I would say this would be waste of investment.

Hi Nansi,

Clustering is not supported or tested by Ericsson for these applications. The question have been brought up several times, but mostly the same conclusion as duvel stated have been made. It is not really that business critical that it would justify the cost of clustering. But a RAID5 solution and proper backup of the systems are definitely recommended.
