Hello again,

Can anyone give me information about how do I implement a cluster system on AIX?

Thks

hi mike, thanks for reply

well i need to study how HACMP works... i'm a little lost on information and i don't know where to start.

First my objective is to have a cluster system... and i think CSM is required ..

Honestly ... i don't know where to begin.

Tiago

First of all, you need the cluster software from IBM.That's HACMP 5.2 (latest version )( need to purchase the software).
A good redbook for HACMP can be found here :
the certification guide

basically, install HACMP on all the nodes of your potential cluster. For the config of your cluster I can refer to This is a really good simple explanation for a cluster setup

Adding in another option, Veritas Cluster Server for AIX works extremely well and is IMHO a lot easier to use than HACMP (but that is just personal preference). You might want to look at it as an alternative to HACMP.

ok... i have HACMP and AIX 5.1 for testing, but when i try to install it? a prerequesite is required... and i don't know what it is... any help?

Thks

Did you do the installation with smitty ?
If so, please post the section "FAILURES" from the output when running a preview install. There will be certain filesets missing for AIX.

Regards,

R.

Ok.. here it is,

bos.adt.libm 5.1.0.0
bos.adt.syscalls 5.1.0.0
bos.data 5.1.0.0
rsct.compat.basic.hacmp 2.2.1.0
rsct.compat.clients.hacmp 2.2.1.0
vacpp.msg.en_US.ioc.rte
vacpp.ioc.aix50.rte

can someone helps me getting this packages? it would be a lot easier if AIX was like DEbian :p

once again thanks for help.

these are filesets, which come on the installation cd's of AIX.If I were you , I would install AIX 5.1 base level, install the prerequisites that you listed higher, and then upgrade to the last possible maintenance level , as it fixes bugs with rsct.( could otherwise give fake errormessages of your deathmanswitch close to trigger)

Regards,

R.

R,

these are filesets for the Visualage C++ compiler for AIX
This isn't part of the AIX installation set, but that's the first time I see that a hacmp installation requires filesets from the C compiler.Normally these aren't necesary. Are u sure the HACMP installation still fails without the vacpp filesets installed?

regards,

R.

yes...

i try the installation but it still gives me errors.

I'm getting VisuallAge now...

Let's see then :)

Thanks R

Ok..

Now i have all set, only need to install the lastest PTF's for this version.

How do I install it? normal way? or there is a procidure to install PTF's for HACMP on the nodes?

Thanks
