Hi

Been searching for answers but some are contradicting and some are not fully understandable. Sorry for posting another thread about this issue.

I have setup my server and after a while i recieved as well as sent spam from my server.

My port settings are 25 open in firewall.

The rest in "Default SMTP virtual server" are a bit of a mystery for me.

So what do I need to check and uncheck to stay Whitelisted? :p

I followed this site's guide:

I followed the tips at the bottom and hopefully my Relay is not open.

However I can not telnet to port 25 from external to my ip adress.
I have found some posts where ppl have problems receieving, but I dont have problems with in/out mail. Just telnet port 25.

Anyone got a clue whats going on here?

I have two firewalls to test and both gives the same result.
I'm almost desperate to call some Exchange experts here now.

And now OWA died so we can't use iPhone or remote clients.

Can I reinstall Exchange on a SBS server?

Sincerely

Ben

By the way. Im still getting spam sent from my server so somehow port 25 is working. And I have followed all settings from the guide above. :/

Do you have any logs running? What does event viewer show?

Logs will show you where the spam is coming from - quite probably you have a compromised machine on your LAN pumping out spam through your Exchange server.

Thanks Pat - I'd not even read that line...

"What he said".

Have you managed to get OWA going again? Have you tried a reboot?

Yes now it works fine. It was the damn brand new Netgear Firewall that blocked all traffic on 443.

However I'm now not exactly sure if my server sends spam or just answering on failed user lookups by spammers' mail?
Or does that counts as spam aswell?

The amount of mail outgoing is not more then 5-10 mails. Every other hour.

The Exchange noob :(
