I have an 81c that has a Clock controller QPC471H in net grp 1 shelf 0 that is working fine. However the clock controller in net 1 shelf 1 is not working at all, when I try to enable (enl cc 1 fdl) it it give me a DTI068 that say "System clock generator is not responding" when I do ssck 1 it say UNEQ.I thought it might be the back plane so I swapped it and the cables out for a brand new ones that I happened to have. Still does the same thing. It's in slot 13 of the net shelf, and is set for cc 1 with the dip switches. Is there something I am missing in the programing. If it means anything I can't enable the conf/tds cards on either shelf.

what rls is your switch? that is a known problem with that vintage on rls 3 and above..

if your prior to that, i would swap the known good cc with the bad and see if the trouble moves..

if both cards are good, your looking at backplane replacement.

I assume you have verified the card is faceplate enabled and in the correct slot in shelf 1?

Thanks,

Buddy

It is RLS 3 and I have swapped the card out in another switch and it works fine. I have also already replaced the backplane last week. Yes it is faceplate enabled and it is in slot 13 which is the correct slot isnt it? Could it be the faceplate cable that connects the the intergroup module?

I see you can't enable the conf/tds card on the same shelf. Do any cards in the shelf work?

Thanks,

Buddy

I personally would check the dip switches on the card and possibly replace the faceplate cable or try a different shelf 1 in another group

Thanks,

Buddy

The dip switches are set corectly, and I have no other groups to try it in. I only have group 1 shelf 1 and group 1 shelf 0, and the cc in shelf 0 works fine. However the conf/tds card in shelf 0 or shelf 1 does not work. They are both plugged into slot 5 of each shelf and should be loops 32/33 and 48/49, but my main concern is the cc card in shelf 1 without it I have no redundancy.

Thanks in advance what you guys do is great.

No I have not put it in shelf 0. If thats to see if the card itself is good I know it is I tried it in a different switch and it worked fine. I forgot to mention that they are both the same card too they are QPC471H cards.

I'll try the cable swap thats the only thing I havent tried.

The cable swap did'nt work. Does anybody have any more suggestions? Johnpoole mentioned it could be the RLS. Since I am at RLS 3 could that be it, and is there a fix for it?

If other stuff on the shelf does not work, I would look at your Per sig card (QPC 43) and review 3PE (QPC 441) settings.

Load overlay 45 and type test. You should have the NTP's handy to make sense of the output. Then go about fixing everything in a logical manner. You may also want to do this off hours, in case something winds up disabled.
Not sure if you have FNF, but I would stat my CNI's , Extenders and MGS's before you start to make sure everything is enabled.

(if you don't feel comfortable doing this, get someone who is familiar with the machine)

I checked out the LD 45 thing and it seems to me that is more for controller cards and loops than clock controller cards. Did I overlook something about testing cc cards in LD 45? Is there a LD that I can do test on the backplane or the whole shelf?

The CPU communicates to all the cards on the shelf via CNI's and 3PE's. BSD tests signaling connectivity.I know you are focused on the CC, but if you have other things on the shelf that also don't work, that may be indicative of a greater issue, such as switch settings, reversed cables, bad extender, ps card, etc.... Just my 2 cents.

That's a good 2 cents. I have wondered about the cabling. I have compared it to another 81c I have and they are the same. That does'nt tell me if they are bad or nor. Can anybody give me a procedure to be able to test the whole shelf or the cards? I did do the LD 45 test, but it didnt tell me anything just that it was running a test.
