clipping path

I've added a clipping path to an image in PhotoPaint and exported as an EPS file.

This EPS file was then imported into Draw using the postscript interpreted filter. The clipping path is retained. I've further edited the clipping path in Draw because it's easier to make subtle changes there than in Paint.

Now I would like to further edit the image in Photopaint but I can't find any way to get it back to Paint and return to Draw with the clipping path intact.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

What are you ultimately trying to achieve? It may be that you're going the long way around and there may be an easier way to achieve your goal.

I'm creating a sales flier for an industrial product. The product is large, the photo was taken in our production facility so the background is undesirable. I created the clipping path in Paint so that I could sillouette the product. The outline of the product is complicated. Paint doesn't seem to respond well to minute path tweaks to I got it close and dialed it in after import to Draw. Now I need to further retouch the photo.

I realize I can use the bitmap color mask but it's certainly inferior to the clean edge of a clipping path.

I hope that makes sense. Any suggestions?

Personally, I don't use "clipping" paths - i.e. where you use the path tool to create a vector path around something - unless I know it's going to be hard edges/straigh lines.

Usually, I will do what Photopaint calls a "clipmask" or what Photoshop calls a "layermask."

- granted, it's geared towards retouching a photo but the principle is the same. The thing I like about it is that it's easy to "erase" and "unerase" items and you can easily vary transparency.

And these layers should translate back into Draw with no problems.

If the clipping path is a separate vector object try power clipping the bitmap into it. Power clip is found under effects.

The path is an editable vector and can be seperated from the bitmap. Draw's object properites define it as a bitmap however and it says it's an invalid object for a Powerclip. It was a good idea though.

I hope to get some time later today to read Javabear's tutorial. I'd prefer the clean edge of a path but if I'm stuck with the jaggies, so be it.

Thanks to you both for taking the time to answer. I can't help wondering if I'd be having the same problem if I was an Adobe user instead of Corel.
