I have set up a 40 client 10 baseT network, the problem I have is the clients are taking anything up to 20 minutes to log on. I have attempted using only 1 DNS server rather than having 2 IP addresses with one as the alternate. Also tried renewing the IPCONFIG but to no avail. A NSLOOKUP command on both the server name and the IP address is showing the clients are not recognising the server. Sorry this sounds rambling but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Additional.

The server is running on Windows 2000 server and the clients are running XP Professional if that sheds any more light on my query.
Thanks

You should repost this in the Window 2000 Server Thread. This does not appear to be a hardware problem with Compaq servers.

It sounds to me like you do not have your DNS configured correctly. Also, If you created this domain with servers that are no longer connected to the domain, then this will also prolong the boot/authentication process
