I can not push clients to some computers on my network, so I tried to manually install them. After the manual install, if I do a discover on a client, I get an error "automatic site code discovery was unsuccessful". I can manually enter the site code in and the server can pick them up fine and everthing seems to work.

Any idea why the auto discover of sitecode doesn't work?

Do you have file and print sharing enabled on the client?
Add the Domain\SMSSiteServer$ to the local admin group of the client machine.

Code:
net localgroup Administrators domain\SMSSiteServer$ /add

Hope this Helps.

Are these machines part of a AD domain where the schema was extended?

And also, have you given the security extention to the Systems Management Container in Active Directory Users and Computers.

> Active Directory - Users and Computers
> View > Advanced Features
> Under the domain tree > System
> Systems Management > Right click > Properties
> Security
> Advanced
> Add > domain\SMSSiteServerMachineName$ > OK
> Highlight New adition > Edit
> Select "Full Control"
> Apply Onto: = "This object and all child objects"

Hope this Helps.

Also make sure the SMS sites are defined properly in the WINs server(s).

Thanks for the tips. It turns out that my site in AD did not properly define all it's subnets, so the computers didn't know which site they belonged to. Thanks for all your help.
