running windows 200 server :: The user is the owner of the folder, and all the permissions are set correctly, but when the user is on a windows 2000 client, they cannnot write to thier network drive...we are using tight group policy settings...maybe it is something with that, although we took the computer out of the OU, so the policy would not effect the computer, which worked, yet they still could not write to thier networked drive...only if the user belonged to the administrator group could the user write to the drive...but we cannot allow that on our network..Thanks! "Less work more network" (HP) -- its so catchy

Have you checked the permissions on the share name? I assume this works the same in W2K as in NT4.0. -- Devil Dog --

Another thing -- Just taking the computer out of the OU may not do the trick ... if you have a default domain group policy implimented, or a policy on one of the user OU's, it may still be taking effect.

thanks for the reply, but we got it going...it was that there was no $ at the end of the share...it was like shared at like "ShareName" rather than "ShareName$"....about the OU bit..i made sure to block the domain security policy, thanks though :) "Less work more network" (HP) -- its so catchy
