Basic scenario - client at home with laptop dials into w2k server that has permanent Internet connection.
No problems. NAT assigns IP, can open Exchange mailbox - everything works - but one thing. No internet.
DNS resolves fine but external ping times out. Thus browsing doesn't work.

All the doco i have read indicates it can be done - if I delete routes and then add those routes back with new correct metric it still doesn't bloody work :(

Maybe i'm missing something - but its really starting to piss me off.

Anyway any help at all would be appreciated.

Ps Excuse my spelling and grammar. (oh for spell check)

Have you any proxy software running or shared a internet connection?

Have you put IP forwarding on all Network connections?

I think you might need Proxy Server 2 or try Microsoft ISA server (Beta 3) it's free to download at the moment.

These are the only things i can think of that would stop it from working.....

Thanks.

You are correct - since i posted i have found out that there is a way to enable RRAS and IP Routing on a single server. However its an absolute bitch - you need to create routing interfaces for each and every user.

So bugger it i went and installed a second server with ISAS (Beta 3) on. It works a treat - ISAS handles all IP routing while PDC handles RRAS. Too Easy.

Cheers again.
