Hi All

I'm trying to get my head around a report that I need to produce which has a page (or two) of client details, but it's complicated by the fact that the details fields are grouped into data sets.

The report will look like:
Adresses
Postal 123 Main St...
Registered 456 High St...
Email b.smith@acme.com
Communication
Home Phone 01234 456789
Mobile 07123 456789
Fax 01234 456780

Simple enough except the data set headings, the labels and the data all need to come from database as the data sets will be changing and so will some of the field names.

I'm trying to work out the best way to present this data from the db. I currently have a view that has all the required info in a single row for each client, but not sure if I can present it as above.

Hope this makes sense and someone has some ideas.

Thanks in advance

Alan

what you are better off doing in this situation is setting up the data as you would want it in the query rather than the report - SQL is much more adept at handling this kind of thing imo

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Thanks Geoff
I suppose that's what I was hinting at and thought, but hoped maybe there was some way of doing it.

Thanks again

Re-reading your question, I may have read to much into it - if you just want a vertical list of data grouped by client then create one tablix with client as group and then insert another tablix into the detail section (or simply a set of text boxes) and keep inserting rows into the table until you have enough to cover your data then don;t group and simply drag n drop the fields into the rows in your table (or textboxes)

If you need to keep the "headers" dynamic, as long as they are values in teh query rather than field names you can use those as your headers...
