Hi,

I have the licensed copy of Arcserve 2000 advanced edition version 7 SP5 which I have been running with 5 windows clients for some time now.

I would like to start backing up some linux clients I have so purchased 5 linux client agents. When they arrived the agents are for brightstore Arcserve backup 11g.

Will these work with my version of arcserve?

Any advice appreciated.

Regards,

Pilg......

No - backward compatibility was not introduced until v9 of ARCserve, and the agents need to be an older version than the host server - not the other way around.

Ok and I suppose there is no way of purchasing an older license? They expect us to upgrade....?

The problem here is that the AS 2000 is no more supported....

Doubt it since it has not been supported for nearly 2 years now.

If you have a current maintenance contract and your software is licensed, then you should be able to get the ARCserve upgrade for free. I was using Brightstor Enterprise Backup and I was able to upgrade for free....
