Hello All

I have a customer with a BCM 400 4.0 for some reason all of a sudden he stopped getting Caller ID Names. They are receiving phone numbers. I opened BCM Monitor and placed some test calls using my cell phone that does send caller ID and All I see in the phone number. Interesting enough I saw 1 number that had a name with it so is it possible that its working partially? Thanks.

best regards
Tom

Tom,

It's funny that you posted this as I was just about to.

I've got a BCM 400 that's running 4.0.x but even at 3.7 I couldn't get any names to display.

I verified that my privider os sending name+number across the PRI.

My vendor is stuck on this.

Ha Ha good to know im not the only person with this problem. It just started yesterday.

We just installed a 4.0 with PRI and were getting weird problems with the lines, and the local telco had a meeting with Nortel and mentioned to us that there have been some issues with the DTM's on BCM 4.0 not working right.

Might be the hardware from Nortel.

Cool thanks for the input guitartech I will try switching out the DTM.

Did this work before on a t-1? Typically it is very difficult to get a provider to give caller id name on a t-1 circuit. PRI's no problem, but T-1's BIG problem.

I called and verified that name+number are being sent.
For the record, I have never seen it work on my system as I inhereted it and the original tech that serviced it is no longer around.

I just confirmed to day we have a PRI not a T1. With BCM monitor open I see the incoming number and where the name is supposed to be I just see a ?.

Tom,

Same boat here,

PRI with a "?" on my bcm monitor.

The name is sent by Telco. If you have any doubts about this, get Telco onsite with a TBerd, and look over their shoulder and verify THEY get name from calls YOU make.

Just got off the phone with the switch tech for TWC.

Sure enough, the name was not being sent from ther 5ESS.

I noticed it was working when he called me back and his name was on teh phone.

All fixed!

Looks like I will go back to the telco and have them look in to it further.

There is essentually only one spot to turn clid on or off, and thats under the DN for the check box.

That's it.

SO go back to your provider and see what's up. I had to actually create a trouble ticket to get to the telcom engineer.

Good Luck,
