When I click the start button, the menu box opens just like it should. That's good. But as soon as I bring the cursor up
high enough that the first sub-menu opens (settings), then the control panel opens without me clicking or even selecting it. If I move real fast, I can move the cursor past the settings to the documents, or favorites, or programs, but then those submenus start cascading open, and wherever the cursor happens to be, that program or document or whatever opens up without selecting or clicking on it. This makes it a pain to open up a program I really want to open, as you can imagine.
Have you ever heard of this before? Do you have any
suggestions? Do you like gladiator movies?
Check your mouse driver in the control panel. The wrong driver (e.g. a Logitech driver with a Microsoft Mouse) can cause mouse movement to be interpreted as mouse clicks.

What happens if you move the mouse really slowly?

If I move the mouse slowly, it still does the same thing. After clicking the start button, as I begin moving the cursor up, the first thing highlighted is "shut down" - so the shutdown dialog box opens up. The mouse behaves fine in all programs other than IE and the Windows desktop or GUI.
Thanks.
