My list of programs under Customize Notification's Past Items of my Taskbar is getting really crowded, especially with programs that have already been uninstalled. How can I clear that list?

(Just to clear it up, I'm talking about right-clicking the Start button, choosing Properties, selecting the Taskbar tab, checking Hide Inactive Icons, clicking on Customize, and then looking at the Past Items list)

Any help please? Thanks,

I cannot say it ever bothered me personally, but:

1. Start, Run, regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify

2.Delete the IconStreams and PastIconsStream values

3.Open Task Manager, click the Processes tab, click Explorer.exe , and then click End Process .

4.In Task Manager, click File , click New Task , type explorer , and then click OK .

Thanks a lot once again, bcastner. I was actually helping my friend ask the question, as she had about 20 old items there for some reason ("Re-Clock Properties, this codec that she installed, appeared about 10 times).

Thanks.
