Hi All,

Please I have a Netra X1 with me at the moment. It belongs to a client who cannot remember the LOMlite username and password for the box. It suddenly "stopped" working one day and the box was brought to my office. I connected to
it via the ALOM port and discovered that it was at the LOMlite prompt.

I was told a jumper reset is the way but I have tried the jumper but it doesnt seem to work.

I got a diagram of the motherboard from (to locate the jumper)

I have tried to reset the LOM by jumpering the jumper JP13 but to no effect. Maybe I didnt go about it properly? If I put on the jumper then power the box, it doesnt come on at all -it is as if no power was supplied to the box. Ok. I then powered on the box and jumpered it - it freezes at the LOMlite login request prompt until I remove the jumper - I have done this a few times but when I reboot it I still get the LOMlite login prompt back. Just once I got the lom> prompt but it seems it must have been a glitch because I cant seem to repeat whatever I did to get the prompt.

Please help.

How do I get rid of the password so I can get into the box?

WHAT HAPPENS IF I REMOVE THE ONBOARD BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES???

Hello -

If you're still having problems with this, I might have
the "trick". The full procedure that worked for us, was
to poweroff the server, but leave the power cord plugged
in, remove the memory to allow easy access to the JP13
jumper and connect via hyperterm to the LOM port getting
the LOMlite login prompt. At that point, put on the jumper
and then remove it quickly. The timing seems to be a bit
critical, but we found that within a few tries we could get
it to work.

We were then able to get to the system console so we could
log in as root. However, the four LOMlite logins are all
locked for us. Doing a usershow gives:
1: [inaccessible]
2: [inaccessible]
3: [inaccessible]
4: [inaccessible]

and none of userdel, userperm nor userpassword will allow us
to get into any of the logins. Does anyone know a fix for
this problem?

Thanks,
D

Dear Sir,
Please have a look at 'serial_security' parameter in /platform/sun4u/kernel/drv/lom.conf
after you get into the OS.
Sincerely yours,
alex.
