Hi Im really new to Cognos so please have patients

I have been running Cognos in test mode successfully running test data throught the system. Now I am ready to go live an I want to clear all of the test data out out the system.

I cannot find any documentation other than pruning events in FileNet process Analyzer, but the does not clear the underlying data.

I would appreciate if anyone would have any documentation or if you could point me in the correct direction to do this

Kind regards

Welcome to tektips; your question somewhat confuses me, but I'll chip in.

Most installs of Cognos would be in separate development and live environments, perhaps on distinct machines and perhaps with both live and test data sets. To switch between data sets should really be a case of "re-pointing" Cognos to a different source. This can also assist in live environments, should a problem require the redirection of queries to a back-up or alternative source at short notice.

If you list the Cognos products you are using, I'm sure you'll get a more specific reply.

For what it's worth, our install of Impromptu and Transformer uses ODBC connections to the databases, so swapping to a different data source requires changing of the System DSN in Windows. In the case of PowerPlay Enterprise server, there is a backup server which can be used by changing the log-on page destination IP.

Hi drlex thanks for the reponse. Currently using Cognos Now 4.3.3 in conjunction with FileNet P8 4.1. Filenet Process Analyzer is pushing the data over to the cubes.

You are correct in your assumption that we have a test and a live enviroment.

Due to that fact that this is a new installation we have been pushing test data throught the live environment to ensure that the infrastructure in bullet proff.

The problem now is that there is a whole host of info in live that will skew the actaul values when real time data starts to go through the system.

Therefore what Im hoping to do is clear all data out of the system again before we go live.

I hope this clears the situation up

Thx
