Clear Workstation DHCP settings

From my understanding, once a workstation obtains a valid IP through DHCP, it will always ask the DHCP server for that address and will get it unless that address is in use. My problem is that I have two DHCP pools, one for general use and one for a specific lab. One of my machines obtained an address from the general pool and now I want it to get it from the lab pool. It's mac address has been assigned to the lab pool but the machine keeps pulling from the general one.

Is there a way to clear out the DHCP settings on that workstation so that it no longer "remembers" what IP it used to have?

I think you can use DHCP classes to achieve just that.
Google for DHCP classes, there's plenty of info about that out there.

ipconfig /release should always release all. How are you achieving this? My understanding is that the first DHCP service responder will always be used. Now I believe with some super scoping you can have multiple DHCP servers but they that gives you redundancy, not the ability to say "ignore that DHCP server because I want to use that one". The only way that would work is if you encoded/recorded all the MACs in a table.

Now I read an article that within Microsoft DHCP you can delay one so you have a primary on a LAN (and of course a backup). But once again, that only applies to the same scope.

You might want to run WireShark to see the actual DHCP packets.

Am I totally off base with DHCP (did I miss some RFCs)?
