Hey all,

We just moved our web site from one hosting company to another and after clearing caches on my DNS servers and the workstations everyone can see the new web site except our web site guy. He's using a Mac (OSX 10.4.8) and none of the web site updates show up in his browser. He's tried Firefox and Safari, and cleared the cache in both of them, but no joy. Since I had to clear the DNS cache on the workstations I'm thinking I need to do the same thing on his computer, but how do I clear the DNS cache on a Mac?

Thanks,

Joe

If you know the root password (or if the user has admin access) open the Terminal app and type this at the prompt:

sudo killall lookupd

that will restart the local caching daemons.

Thanks Brontosaurus but when I walked over to his office he told me it was already working. I WILL keep this in case something like this comes up again.

Thanks again,

Joe

you actually do not have to kill it.. you can issue "lookupd -flushcache" to do the same thing
