clear contents of address bar

Hello all
I want to be able to remove teh contents of my address bar. Right now I have approx 15 website addresses that are listed when I use the pull down menu
ie

http://www.cbc.ca

http://www.cnn.com

http://www.bla.com

How do I clear these items out soI can start with a empty list
