Clear All programing

Have a G3-SI R8.2 and a Prologix that we want to default and not lose RTUs on memory cards. Customer is moving switch from a closed down office to use in another office and we want to default the switch to factory defaults with all existing programming removed complete.

What is the "easy" method? Will we lose the existing passwords - admin and craft?

For techs out in the field, I hope there is no easy way to default a PBX back to default as we do with smaller switches. This is why the RTUs, and passwords are so protected. Years back when I was with AT&T and Lucent, contract time would come around and when we went out on strike; there wre Techs that would dial in and cause problems to make it hard on the company.

My suggestion is to simply go in and do a Remove xxx
in all fields...It will take some time to do this but
you wont have to worry aboul loosing your Permissions.

Sure as I say this, I'm sure someone will give you different advice. For the customers piece of mind I hope I'm wrong.

I am with twofeathers. I do not know a single command that would restore the system to the original configuration. Every thing is backed up in several places. In a reboot or reset situation, it would try to load from those places. Tier 3 may have some easier solution for their use. I would remove the stations, trunks, and everything that is not going to be reinstalled. That would save you the trouble and expense of restoring the RTU’s.

For starters, you can use the Import and the Find&Replace function in ASA to remove a whole bunch of stuff quite easy...
But for a really 'clean' Definity, I'd contact a vendor (BP) of Avaya itself who can unleash their Provision software on your switch..

In the past we have taken an old prologix from one company and utilised it at another. We had no luck finding a way to default the system back to factory settings. We just had to go through and remove all unnecessary stations, trunks, cards etc and then reprogramme. Bit of a pain but don't know any other way round it.

I agree with Mcopini, You can fairly easily do an import of yoru new station database using ASA and that way you dont have to reprogram the CORS and feature access codes. The other way is to have a BP use provision software to clear everything out.
