I found that a multitude of shortcuts were hiding many of my program listing under All Programs. Deleting the unneeded shortcuts on the menu brought back the missing listings again.

PS: XP, is a strange break-a-away from past versions of Windows which seemed less complicated, and more functional. Also, does anyone know why Autorun is not present on XP Pro? I'm logged in as Administrator but still no Autorun. Does anyone have any suggestions or links to an appplication that can enable it? Thank you in advance. Leroy.

Leroy,

See member Satrow's new FAQ: faq779-4784 for Startup program analysis.

There is always MSCONFIG.

AutoRun issues can be hard to trace. I have had a lot of success using the MS utility "AutoFix":

MSCONFIG is rather complicated to use by most people. I doubt if many people like myself use the utility out of fear of causing problems with our systems. I just thought that manually cleaning up is far safer than your alternative, and has allowed me to once again gain some basic functionality back to this common menu item. Thanks for your feedback; every little bit helps though.

Thanks Bill, the autorun fix thingy worked like a charm and autorun works again. Leroy.
