We've created a new SMS server in our company in a new domain (merged companies). When i clean the clients using ccmlean and then install the clients on some systems some clients still do not get advertisments. I think its because when i go to that SMS client's software and click on Advanced - Discover it still discovers the old SMS server.

That server's been down for a few weeks now. Why is it still saying its found that server? Are there components on the client that still point to the old SMS server and if so how can i clean that up?

Thanks,
Mike Day

The "SMS SERVER" is really the database. Are you using the same database?

Hope this Helps.

Sorry, also, are you using the same sitecode, or a different site code? Tell us more about the similarities and differences between the old and new servers. Is the new one a "drop in" for the old one, so has all the same configs, same location on the network, same IP blah de blah?

Hope this Helps.

Different database and different Sitecode. They could not extend our SMS to work with their domain so they built a new one while I continued to use ours. Now (9 mo's later!)they are ready to have our clients join the new SMS site.

I just manage the servers so I only have about 120 clients ... but i still had to uninstall and reinstall the client on at least half of them to get the new site code. About 20 other clients still will not complete the new SMS client installation.

I just pushed out a package to run the MSRT tool on all clients but only about 13 ran the package. There were no errors reported in the System Status - Advertisment status on those clients that did not recieve or run the advertisement other than the standard "Advertisement "IT120037" from site "IT1" was rejected because the advertisement has expired.".

Why do many clients still think the old SMS site still exists when that site has been down for 2 weeks? Are there traces of the old SMS site still on the client? Or is there any way I can use a lmhost file or other configuration file to force the client to use the new SMS site?
