Can Insight Manager monitor the status of disks in a shared storage array? We have a CL380 cluster with 5 disks in a CR3500 array -- recently one disk went bad and we didn't know until someone happened to look at the cluster unit and saw the warning lights (the server is off-site in a data center that probably only gets 2-3 visits a week).

Insight Manager reports info on the RAID controllers/disks for each cluster node, but doesn't appear to have anything for the CR3500. Is that something we can configure or will the management agents only report on the member servers?

Thanks for your help.

Open the control panel and then the Compaq Management Agents applet.

One of the Tabs displays two lists, whats currently being monitored and whats not

Add the Cluster information to the monitored list...

This will allow you to monitor cluster related stuff with CIM7.

According to Compaq's Customer advisory EX011130_CW01, hard drives attached to CR3500 are not monitored. The CR3500 is not a smart array controller and has less functionality than others Compaq controllers.

Thanks for the info! That advisory makes it pretty clear. I guess I'll just have to get going and look at the server every once in a while :)
