I have been reading up on the differences between CL2 and CL3 memory but still am not sure if it is a good idea to mix the two types. I have a stick of each and they are identical except one is cl2 the other cl3 and I would like to use them in the same machine. Any thoughts on this?

It will work, but the CL2 module will operate at CL3 latencies. That's my take anyway from what I've read.

I've never run tests personally, however, so I can't verify that. I would still avoid doing so if you can help it.

It never hurts to run DRAM a bit slower, ie use CL2 at CL3. Also note that the bus frequency is part of the equation, ie speed= frequency/latency, so PC2100-CL2 is the same speed as PC3200-CL3, but PC2100 chips may not work with a 200MHz(x2) clock. It's almost certain safe to run PC3200-CL3 chips as PC2100-CL2, but your bios may bitch that the recomended cas latency is "3".

Thanks for the replies guys. So far have seen no troubles at all.
