Does anyone use Cizer instead of Enterprise for scheduling, security etc.. We are trying to deploy reports to potentially hundreds and hundreds of users and the Enterprise prices are outragous. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I don't use Cizer, but I will be using cView Plus, a tool written by Bruce Ferguson (bruce@chelseatech.co.nz). Not sure about security because that's a non-issue for our purposes, but it schedules wonderfully, supports database login info for secure DB's, and has a neat multi-run feature that allows you to run the same report with different parameters and to different destinations (e.g., e-mail detailed version to tech dept, e-mail summary version to mgmt).
He does have a demo version available, and the actual program costs $500 (I think), and may or may not yet be available. Contact him for more info if this sounds like it may help. (If you're already committed to Cizer, this does you no good, but just FYI)
We checked into Cizer as a cost-effective alternative to Crystal Enterprise, and found that Cizer right now is compatible only with Crystal Reports 7.0. They stated that when they upgrade to support CR 8.0/8.5, their pricing structure will be in line with what Crystal is asking...so no cost savings at all over the long run!!!
That is possibly becuase Seagate has changed the license to prevent tools like Cizer from giving away the print engine. The license change came with V8. Ken Hamady
