I have a server, that has lost a service.
This last week I have been looking for a reason, that no users could log into the machine. Scanning through the services, I realised that it was missing a service.
Citrix xml service, placed in winnt\system322\ctxxmlss.exe.
But looking in Exploere I could see that it di exist. But it is not listed under services.
How can I recreate the lost service?

I was looking for a specific solution ;-)

I found out that you can do like this

ctxxmls /U - this will unregister the service
ctxxmls /R80 - this will register the xml service on port 80

But registereing it in port 80, gives me this message

ERROR - Citrix XML service: Port 80 is already in use.

Guess I just have to find out which port it is running upon.

If you reinstall SP3 of Metaframe, the SP will register the COM component again with the appropriate port. I think it will even ask you for a new port.

stop the IIS service on the server before you re-reregister the port...

I advise you to change you CTx xml port to something other than port 80. What probably happened is that you have IIS running on this box when you installed Metaframe. This will register the XML service.
You were doing everything correct with the ctxxmlss /R80 but use a different port like 8080 ctxxmlss /R8080
Good Luck
Steve
