HI,
I HAVE A WINDOWS 2000 AS RUNNING METAFRAME XP.. MY CLIENTS ARE CONNECTING THROUGH THE BROWSER TO A SQL DATABASE.. WHEN THEY GET DISCONNECTED FOR SOME REASON THE APPLICATION DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT THE DISCONNECT AND ALTHOUGH THEY ARE ABLE TO LOG BACK ON TO THE CITRIX SERVER THEY CAN NOT GET BACK INTO THE SQL DATABASE BECAUSE IT SAYS THE "USERNAME IS ALREADY LOGGED ON" IS THERE A WAY TO FORCE DISCONNECT AN APPLICATION AFTER THE ICA CLIENT DISCONNECTS?

Just use the Admin console and kill the process, it will still show the user name. Easiest if you do it before they reconnect of course.

In the Client Connection Configuration app you can specify timeouts and what should happen to an application that is idle or gets disconnected. This is set per connection/protocol so if you run standard TCP/IP and ICA protocols you should set this for the ICA-TCP connection. You can specify that a disconnected session should be reset for example. Somewhere in the MetaFrame settings you can also disallow disconnection so that all sessions that gets disconnected automatically are reset. I just can't remember exactly where you do this right now.
Hope this helps.

I found a document on Citrix's website about this. Check that site.
Steve

I've got the same problems and I've already set the timeouts for the ICA-TCP protocol in Cirix. Can anyone point me to the document in question, Steve????

Hi,

If you have a session that disconnects, it stays on the server for a certain amount of time (read above about Citrix Connection Configuration) once it hits x minutes then the session is reset. This reset is not neat and tidy like the logoff process.

What is causing your disconnections? Can this be fixed?

As for Steve's documentation, do a search on the Knowledge base!

Cheers,
Carl.
