Hi all,

I'm nearing the end of my rope with this one so I hope that someone can help me before I take the plunge. :) I'm trying to connect to a Citrix server via DSL. I have both DSL and dial-up on my computer. Connecting via dial-up works great every time, with no problems. I can't connect via DSL however. All of the help docs that I have read online tell me that ports 1494,1023, and 1604 have to be open for Citrix to work via DSL. How do I open them? I did telnet with 1494, and received the response ICA...ICA...ICA in my telnet session, which tells me 1494 is open. However, when I tried the same thing with the other 2, I got a could not connect error. Anyone know how to open them? One last note, my DSL company is of no technical help whatsoever, I've already been down that road. I also have no system administrator that can help me with this. Thanks anyone and everyone for your help.

Erin

are you connecting through a router and or firewall? what operating system are you running? who is your dsl provider?

I don't have a router. I have no idea if I have a firewall or not. I'm assuming that Verizon DSL has some sort of internal firewall, but I can't find it, or how to get to it. I'm running Windows98. Thanks for helping!!

You only need Port 1494 opened and pointed to the IP (public or private) of the Citrix box.....

DaShard,

I have port 1494 open. I did a telnet session and used the IP of the citrix server and got back the response ICA...ICA...ICA...ICA. So it is open. Is that what you mean by "pointed to the IP of the Citrix box"?

Presumably the DSL modem is acting as a kind of router - your ISP has probably assigned it an IP? If so, it won't match the local subnet.

Are you using NAT?

I hope this is helpful CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

If you are using the Full Citrix Client:
Select the connection that you are using...File...Application Set Settings...Connection...Firewalls...Check the "Use alternate address for firewall connection box".
You should now be able to connect.

If u are using Win2k and Metaframe XP or 1.8 u may have a license issue. Are u using high encryption at the server level and not at the client? If u get a response back from your telnet session on port 1494 then u do not have a firewall issue. Port 1604 is not needed this is for browsing only. Are u using the IP Address when trying to connect. Go to Start | Run and type regedit. Go to hklm/software/microsoft/mslicnese. Delete everything under this key. This will tell u if u are having a license issue or not. It will give u 90 days and this will happen again.
