Ive been working with cisco routers as hobby for a couple of years now, it seems like something that i would want to persue as a career. My question is that Ive been hearing about this new Satelite Broadband service that Microsoft is working on. Its supposed to basically link the whole world with cheap bandwidth. With this is supposed to come major changes to how the internet will operate. Will these changes effect Cisco devices thus making Cisco technology obsolete? Therefore learning Cisco IOS and optaining the certificates an improper career move? BTW, iam stable at my current job but routers are something that interests me.

an interesting point. but on the other hand. MS has been goning though legal implications for years now. so even if MS wins they will be watched closly for years to come, by other companies, and goverment, i would bet.

so almost any standard MS comes out with will need to be made public. and cisco would be able to flow what the companies need, or want, even MS uses cisco equipment.

but that is just my thought.

Yesterday's news about the Cisco-led stock rally was so positive that I dare not to worry. If Cisco were in any danger, surely that would have been reflected in the current happenings on Wall Street. I'm of course assuming (and hoping)that people who have a lot of money at stake in this naturally know a lot more than I do!

I'm just starting the CCNA studies, and there's still time to back up and start over in another direction. But routers are fun, and it's a logical step from the Net+.

I wouldn't worry too much about Cisco. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon... Matt Wray
