Hi All,

I have a two L3 switches

1. Cisco 2948G Switch(L3)
2. Extreme summit 200/48 Switch(L3)

I have configured Vlans in the Extreme Summit Switch and i like to do Trucking to Cisco Switch. To be more specific of my requirements i like to replicate all the Vlans from extreme Switch to Cisco switch. Is there any option available. I have surfed google but no results

Please kindly help me on this...

Thanks

Vlan Trunking Protocol is how you would dynamically do this between 2 Cisco switches but it is not industry standard. You can trunk the vlans from Cisco to anotehr vendor using 802.1q assuming the extreme switch supports it. However, the vlans from the exteme switch will not be dynamically leanrned from Cisco and vice versa. You'll need to manually configure them on each side.

HI There Thanks for the replies.... Using 802.1q i have made trunking between Extreme and Cisco. But im not able to replicate the Vlans from Extreme To Cisco.

Since all my Master Vlans are in Extreme and i have to replicate that Vlans to Cisco 2948G switches.

Thanks & Regards

You wont be able to replicate them, you will have to manually create them on the cisco.

You can use GVRP. VTP is Cisco-only, but there is a standard way of doing this called GVRP (GARP Vlan Registration Protocol).

You must turn off VTP on your Cisco switch to enable GVRP.

Jneiberger,

Thanks for the Information. And i think im unlucky we use an switch which supports IOS type OS. And GARP supports COS type OS.

Any how thanks for the valuable inputs.

Thanks
