I have a problem getting the Cisco VPN Client (4.0.2D and previous version).
I am running XP pro.
When installing the client the installation program gets stuck on VAinstaller.exe. I have managed to get this to install by running msconfig and starting with only basic services (which totally messes up your system, so I found to my cost!).
When I run the connection I get the error that the client has disconnected from the host as it it no longer responding.
I have a windows 2000 machine next to me, and it works fine and I know other users who have XP pro and that works fine.
I did have Zone Alarm but that is now removed (as are numberous other programs to try and find a solution), but no joy.
Any ideas?

Daft question maybe - but the installation program tries to install two non WHQL certified drivers, you haven't got the driver installation policy set to block for none WHQL drivers by any chance?

Its set to default (warn).
I'm wondering if the XP advanced networking pack is messing it up, but if I go to uninstall this it gives me a long list of what may not work if I proceed.
I have tried to install the same clients at home on a w2k server box and get the same error.
I think maybe it depends on the weather the day I install it?
