I am having problems deleting unity subscribers. I need to get rid of a few old subscribers but I am unable to delete them. I have even tried to use unitytools to delete them and nothing works. Any ideas what the problem is?

What happens when you try to delete them? Do they still show up in Unity? Or are you trying to build a new mailbox for an old Subscriber and Unity says they already exist?

Can you detail the steps you are taking to attempt to delete these mailboxes? Also what version Unity?

Does your login account have the correct permissions to delete users?

You dont save your changes when you delete a user. I think there is something bigger going on right now. I have logged on with the 3 admin accounts and it will not even save changes made. I have gone in sql to delete the subscriber and it wont let me so there is something bigger going on

Is it not letting you do the delete process in the GUI? (Hitting the red X)? Any text boxes pop up when trying to delete or does it seem to take?

Also, if you are actually looking at the users in the Exchange piece, I was told that deleting a user in the GUI does not delete the "alias" user in exchange. if you want to do that you need to go into the Exchange Admin piece.

I called the TAC. Spent an hour on the phone with them and now my case is getting sent to the higher level support. There is a problem somewhere within sql.

Did you end up with a solution. I'm having the exact problem. I've even tried to go in with "DOS" and see if the files were attributed. I can't delete them either. I was hoping you found a solution.
Many thanks

Gus

actually I am still working on this issue with Cisco. They are webex'd in right now

If and when you find a solution I would greatly appreciate any information.
I have a case open but I'm getting the run around.

many thanks
Gus

I have a tech from Calence looking at the problem. If we figure it out i'll post the results

You probably solved this issue already, but for those that may have had this happen, try using the RemoveSubscriberProperties tool to see if the user to be deleted is actually assigned to a unity server. If they are, go ahead and delete them within the tool and if they are not, use the BulkSubsriberDelete tool and only select the one user you are trying to delete. e.g if the user's ext. is 23315, then you will enter the range 23315 through 23315.

I had similar problem as well, I know I'm reading this months later but here's what i did to resolve the problem:

Cisco Unity Subscriber issues:
symptom: can't complete configuration of subscriber mailboxes

1. Go Tools
run dbwalker program to identify pending problems
(if it tells you to delete file in SQL server, do following:)

2. Go to Sql Server
Enterprise Mgr
Console Root
Microsoft SQL Servers
SQL Group
XXXXXXXXX (server name)
Database
Unity DB
Tables
Subscriber (right click subscriber, then Open table, then return all rows)
right click on SQL, you'll see the following:
SELECT *
FROM Subscriber

**under FROM Subscriber**, free form type WHERE (Alias='alias name') ex: (Alias='nvillegas'); hence it should look like:

SELECT *
FROM Subscriber
WHERE (Alias='nvillegas')

after doing so click on !
afer appropriate file appears, highlight it, then right click and click on delete

3. remove subscribers/users in SQL server

4. Remove properties from Active Directory (software function under Unity program)
(run program after you identify whereabouts
in active directory)
a. go to Active directory

b. highlight view- click on advanced features;to find where a subscriber/user resides in active directory ; first hit view, set for large icons, and advanced features;
c. right click on corp.asbhawaii, hit find;
d. find/input name
e. look/click on object
f. write down where subscriber located
g. go back to Remove properites from Active directory program, look for user/subscriber idenfified with a bunny, remove properties on that user

5. Now create new subscriber in System Administration, under Subscribers, click on ADD
then import existing exchange user

Hope this helps, I know it helped me.

Ok guys, sorry it took me so long to follow up. Basically what happened was that our SQL data bases were corrupt from the begining and it finally show itself. Since it had been corrupt sine the begining the restore was no good. Had a cisco engineer come out and fix the issue.

Thanks for the support
